- Taylor Heinicke is poised to start strong
- The Giants’ offensive line is unable to protect Daniel Jones
In the second week of the regular season, the New York Giants travel to FedEx Field to take on their division rivals, the Washington Football Team. It’s a primetime Thursday night game, so get your popcorn!
Both these teams lost their season openers. On Sunday, the Giants fell to the Denver Broncos 27-13, while the Football Team lost to the Los Angeles Chargers 20-16.

Giants vs Football Team Prediction: Spread
The Washington Football Team is currently a 3.5-point favorite to win this Thursday night matchup. Judging from the Giants’ track record, this game probably will not be that close, and I will certainly be majorly disappointed if the Football Team wins this game by fewer than 3.5 points. Washington should definitely be able to cover the spread on Thursday.

Giants vs Football Team Prediction: MoneyLine
In all honesty, if the Washington Football Team doesn’t win this game, I’ll probably end up punching something. The New York Giants have, for a long time, been an absolutely horrible team, and this season seems to be no exception, as they got demolished by Teddy Bridgewater and the Denver Broncos on Sunday. (All right, demolished may be a strong word, but it wasn’t close.)
Washington’s biggest advantage in this game is their defense. The Giants’ offensive line performed abysmally in their first game, and with the likes of Chase Young, Montez Sweat, and the rest of the Washington defense hungry for a win, they will certainly struggle with keeping quarterback Daniel Jones safe in the pocket.
Even though Washington is the favorite for this matchup, there are a few issues that they will have to work through, specifically on their offensive side. Their starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was injured on Sunday, and he will be out for at least three weeks, leaving all the responsibility to second-string Taylor Heinicke. Running back Antonio Gibson, while he is still expected to play, suffered from a minor shoulder injury in Sunday’s game as well.
I personally have a lot of hope in Heinicke. After Fitzpatrick’s injury in the middle of the second quarter, Heinicke was forced to step up. Even though Washington lost, Heinicke performed well, completing 11 of 15 passes for 122 yards, 8.1 yards per pass, and a touchdown. I think he will be a more-than-decent replacement for Fitzpatrick these next handful of weeks, and I certainly think he will put up some impressive numbers in this game.
The Washington Football Team are favorites to take their first win in this Week 2, Thursday night matchup. Their defense is ready to take down the Giants’ shaky offensive line, and their offense, led by Heinicke, is poised to do some damage in the red zone this week.

Football Team vs Giants Prediction: Total
The total for this game is 41.5, which I feel like is around average for a regular-season NFL game. I’m hoping Washington will be able to find the red zone consistently in this game against the Giants’ defense, so I think that the over is a safe bet for this game.
